Dr. Oz Breakfast Shake

My husband and I just finished doing the Dr. Oz 3 Day Detox. For those of you who aren't familiar, here's the skinny on it: there are three vitamin packed shakes that you drink (plus an extra of your favorite) a detox tea and detox bath you do for three days.

We (meaning me! ha!) wanted to do the detox after Thanksgiving to just cleanse, detox and reset internally. Also, to put a good foot forward going into the Holidays. Sometimes, I feel we eat so much on thanksgiving and before you know it, we have so many Holiday parties and food that we eat all December long it gets out of control!! So that was my reasoning behind the detox.

The Result: I do feel better, less sluggish, "lighter". There is something to be said about only eating pure heathy foods. You do feel better.

Would I do this particular detox again? Probably not.

Reason being, the lunch shake is really hard to drink. We had to force it down. Separately the items are great! Celery, good! Cucumber, good! Green Apple, good! Pineapple, good! Altogether? not good! I think the main issue with the lunch shake is that it is so thick.

They also claim you can do it for $16 dollars a day. Unless you have a lot of the items around the house already, its probably more like $20-30 dollars a day. I found almost everything during one shopping trip to Trader Joe's and they have pretty good prices too.

The amounts are a little off on the shopping list too, and you have to do some extra math for the extra snack shake. I ended up buying about three times the amount of Kale than I actually needed! (going to make Kale Chips with the extra).

Going forward...I would definitely drink the breakfast shake again and again!! It's really yummy and loaded with vitamins, good carbs and protein. It really fills you up too, but its not too heavy for the morning.

The Breakfast Shake Recipe:

1 cup of Water (chilled, purified)
1 cup of Raspberries
1 Tbsp. of Flax Seed
1 Banana
1/4 cup of Spinach (I used Baby Spinach)
1 Tbsp. of Almond Butter
2 Tsp. of Lemon (I used half of a lemon)

Design For Small Spaces: Studio Apartment

Gray + Yellow

For this small space I used a Gray and Yellow inspired design. When you live in a small space, such as a studio, having a cohesive design and color palette helps unify the room. I chose pieces that gave a feeling of clean and simple, yet were cozy and inviting as well.

When you're in a smaller space, separating the spaces of living can be done without walls, but by adding pieces like an accent carpet to define seperate areas.

Adding splashes of color with wall paint, decorative pillows, or art is another way to introduce some color into your space!!

What are your favorite design styles?

Slow Cooker: Sweet and Tangy Chicken

This recipe is one of our family favorites. I love it because it's so easy to whip up AND because its so good. The sauce is amazing and the chicken is so tender!

What you'll need:

2 (18oz) Bottles of BBQ sauce
1 (15oz) Can of pineapple chunks
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
8 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

Mix sauce in a bowl. Pour over chicken in crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours (high for 4-5 hours).

The chicken will easy fall apart. I use a fork to make the chicken shredded and serve over a bed of rice.

What I'm Loving Now...

Bath + Body Works Candles...

Every year I go out and buy the holiday candles from Bath and Body Works. They are by far the best smelling candles out there you can buy for the Christmas season. This year they mixed things up and renamed their line of candles.

My new favorite: Holiday. It's got a hint of cinnamon and clove that just warms up your home to a yummy, cozy scent that makes you just want to curl up by a fire with a warm blanket.

What candles are you loving this Christmas Season?

Thanksgiving Day Wrap Up

Happy Black Friday! Just popping by to say, hello!

Yesterday was my little one's first Thanksgiving, so of course it was extra special. We went over to my parents house for dinner. My aunt and uncle, my cousin and his wife, my grandparents and my brothers all joined us for dinner.

The food was amazing, of course! This year my dad smoked our turkey and it was AMAZING. Probably the best turkey I've ever had. Sided with, Grandma's Rice*, Sweet Potato Casserole*, green bean casserole, salad, cranberry jelly, sweet potatoes, and stuffing. I wish I didn't always get full so fast, because the food is always so amazing I just want to eat a ton! I'm starting to think Thanksgiving food should be eaten at least twice a year...maybe I'll have to start a new tradition!

Baby girl wore her cute little "My First Thanksgiving" outfit with a cute Turkey on the front. That is until she pooped all over it! Thank goodness we always pack a few extra outfits in the diaper bag! ha ha! The rest of the day was filled with lounging and having fun with the baby. It's amazing how entertain little ones can be, just like puppies and kittens, you can't stop looking at them because they are so cute!

I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! And good luck braving the stores today (if your shopping)! Stay tuned, have lots of great Holiday posts coming soon...

Photo Fun! Pinocchio!

I'm a Real Boy! (or Girl)

My Aunt and Uncle got my daughter this authentic Pinnochio Puppet from Italy when they visited last summer and all I could think was, my little daughter would be a cute little "puppet" too!

To make this cute little puppet stage I used a white sheet as a backdrop and a yellow one for the stage. I used a red sheet under the white one and folded the sheet to make it look like curtain folds. I used our curtain valence for the top.

Using a little cardboard I cut out an "X" and attached strings from that to my daughters clothes. I did NOT tie any ribbon to her!

Then, I let her do the rest of the work! She kicked and squirmed as I took a bunch of photos, to make it look as though she was "dancing"! And my husband reluctantly volunteered to be the puppet master.

More unique children poses to follow in upcoming posts....

All things pumpkin!

Bath and Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin

Bath and Body Works: $11 each

Bath and Body Works has the yummiest body washes and body lotions, Victoria's Secret too! but if they are owned by the same company it's all the same, right? ANYWAYS, this year my mom got me their delicious sweet cinnamon pumpkin! Normally, I wouldn't be about smelling like a "pumpkin", especially if I already feel like I look like a pumpkin! (kidding)

But this scent is so much more than Pumpkin! It's a delicious blend of pumpkin, crisp apple, and vanilla with a hint of spice. The fragrances blend perfectly for a warm, rich scent that's not too over powering. It's just right.

Love, love, love this!

Simple Thanksgiving Decor DIY

Mini Pumpkin Votives!

Want to know what to do with your left over mini Halloween Pumpkins?  Turn them into cute votives for your Thanksgiving Dinner!

For this you'll need Mini Pumpkins, a knife, and votive candles.

First, I removed the candle and use the aluminum holder to trace an outline on the pumpkin.

Next, using a knife cut out the top of the pumpkin and scoop out the middle seeds and junk.

Lastly, place the votives inside the pumpkins!

Place your mini pumpkin votives around your Thanksgiving centerpiece or around your house for a simple and cute Fall decoration!

Thanksgiving Deliciousness

For Thanksgiving this year, it's my job to bring the sweet potatoes! Which, next to a green bean casserole is my favorite dish! This version of sweet potato casserole is so delicious and sweet - even kids will love it! (I know because all my nieces and nephews were huge fans last year!)

The best part - warm gooey marshmallows on top! YUM YUM!!! Happy (early) Thanksgiving!

While you were sleeping....

Pink Prints!

My sister in law give me this adorable gift to make cute pink prints of my little ones foot and hand prints. The only problem, my daughter is so wiggly and hyper 99.9% of the time. Even when she's nursing, it's like she's practicing fan kicks and jazz hands. So after getting many smeared prints my husband and I finally realized we needed to wait until she was sleeping! We also waited until she was 3+ months, so her feet barely feet in the little circles! lol. I love this gifts because it's a precious and simple keepsake. Comes with the pink ink pad (for girls) and frames ready to go! I highly recommend this as a great gift for someone having a new baby!

What I'm loving now...Baby Lit!

One of my new favorite things is "Baby Lit". I was first introduced to it when given a gift from a fellow friend and Jane Austen enthusiast. Personally, I have always been a decent reader and lover of classic english literature. So when I was given this adorable "Pride and Prejudice" book for my daughter, I was over the moon! I loved it so much I had to investigate more....

Baby Lit is a great way to introduce you little one to classic literature. They also have the most adorable illustrations too. Currently, they have "Pride and Prejudice, "Dracula", "Christmas Carol", "Romeo and Juliet", "Alice in Wonderland", "Jane Eyre".

Not only do they have books, but below are some of the other products they have too!

This is just a taste!

Check out there website: for more!

FYI...I dont get paid for any of this

Sherri's Chicken Salad

My Sister-in-law, Sherri, makes the best Chicken Salad ever! It's no ordinary chicken salad, but definitely one that keeps you coming back for more and more!!

- 2 (large) cans of white chicken breast (drained VERY well)
- 1 cup of Mayo
- 1 cup of Miracle Whip
- 1 tbsp of sour cream
- 4 hard boiled eggs, cut up
-1/8 cup of celery, chopped
-1/8 cup of yellow onion, chopped

Mix all together and serve with crackers OR as a sandwich on croissants!!!

No, I did not take this photo. I wouldn't put roses by my food. But my husband ate all the Chicken Salad I made before I could take a photo! So I found the next best thing! :)

Pearl Necklace Onesie DIY

Pink + Pearls!

Every time I go to look at baby clothes, I'm always checking out the cute little onesie for boys with the  little necktie printed on the front! They get to look so dressed up and fancy in their little onesie, so  I thought, my little girl needs something like this too! So here's how to make your little girl a pearl necklace onesie...

What you'll Need:

-A plain Onesie - I recommend black or another dark shade. Pre-washed.
-Fabric paint, white or crystal (I used crystal)
-Sewing kit (needle, thread, pins)
-Clear nail polish

Step One: Make your stencil. I didn't want a lopsided necklace so I made a easy stencil with a piece of paper. I marked my start points with a pen on either side.

Step Two: I folded the paper in half and starting at my mark I cut a half circle.

Step Three: I place the stencil where I wanted it on the onesie.

Step Four: To make even sized "pearls" I used an eraser on the end of a pencil and put a dab of fabric paint on the end of it.

First strand done here:

I added another strand below the first. You must wait at least 4 hours for the glue to dry.

Step Five: I folded over the ribbon to make a bow and pinned the middle. I then used a needle and thread to make a stitch to hold it together.

Step Six: I took another piece of ribbon and wrapped around the middle and added another stitch. Then sewed it in place where I wanted it on the onesie.

Step Seven:  Clean up the edges of the bow by applying a thin strip of clear nail polish to avoid any fraying.

Enjoy your little one's adorable new onesie!!!!!
